— For years, I've not encountered any audio “buffer underrun” problem error message – until 2nd November 2021 – if that date is significant in any way... and I doubt that it is! Anyway, what I did to fix this error was to cold-boot my Humax Freesat TV satellite receiver, meaning, shutting-off all the power to the satellite receiver box and then restarting it.

I tried a, "soft reboot" which in other words means switching my Freesat satellite TV receiver box, “off-and-then-on-again” via the remote control because that procedure does fix other anomalies that may occur occasionally, but not this time.

So this is what I did;
• I detached the power-supply plug from the back of my Humax HB-1100S Freesat TV receiver,
• Waited at least 60 (sixty) seconds,
• Plugged the power-supply plug back in,
• Waited for the satellite receiver to start-up,
and all the Freesat channels came back and the system was working normally again ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ‘‰ From the outset, I wasn't tempted to try a factory reset because doing that would have erased my custom config and program settings.

Whilst probably not a perfect long-term technical solution, a simple satellite receiver hard reboot fixed the Audio decoding buffer is underrun error for me. If the buffer underrun message persists or re-appears frequently, then that suggests to me there's an electronical fault that requires more troubleshooting, such as a satellite system software update perhaps, if available.

So what is an Underrun !? My understanding is that a video or audio underrun error means that a satellite receiver is basically "under-nourished" with orderly digital information it needs to, "produce the goods". In other words, not enough useable binary data is being stored and queued in a volatile memory location (a buffer) in readiness to be utilized by a processor.

๐Ÿ‘ The satellite receiver I'm using here is a HUMAX HB-1100S Freesat HD TV Satellite Receiver, and it is, in my opinion, truly excellent!
